Language Editing & Proofreading Policy

Language Editing & Proofreading Policy

To ensure readability and accuracy, JUCMD maintains the following language editing and proofreading policy:

  1. Language of Publication

JUCMD publishes all manuscripts in English. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submissions are written in clear, comprehensible, and grammatically correct English prior to submission.

  1. Pre-Submission Language Requirements for Authors

Authors must ensure that:

  • The manuscript is free from grammatical, spelling, and typographical errors.
  • Scientific terminology is used correctly and consistently.
  • The structure, flow, and clarity of expression meet international academic writing standards.
  • When necessary, authors may seek language editing support from qualified English-language editors or institutional writing centers.

Use of third-party language editing services is optional and not a guarantee of acceptance.

  1. In-House Editorial Proofreading

All accepted manuscripts undergo internal proofreading by the JUCMD Editorial Office to ensure:

  • Consistency of terminology
  • Clarity and readability
  • Formatting according to JUCMD style
  • Correction of minor grammatical or syntax issues

This in-house review is intended to improve quality but does not replace the author’s responsibility to submit a well-written manuscript.

  1. Language Evaluation During Peer Review

During initial screening and peer review:

  • Manuscripts with poor English, unclear expression, or ambiguous statements may be returned to authors for revision prior to full review.
  • Reviewers may request additional language improvement if readability affects scientific interpretation.

JUCMD reserves the right to decline manuscripts that require extensive language editing beyond the journal’s capacity.

  1. Post-Acceptance Proofreading

After acceptance:

  • The editorial team performs a final round of proofreading.
  • Authors receive proofs to check minor errors, typographical issues, or inaccuracies introduced during formatting.
  • No major language rewriting will be conducted at this stage.

Authors must carefully review their proofs before publication.

  1. Responsibility and Transparency

Authors remain fully responsible for:

  • The accuracy and clarity of language
  • Ensuring that any externally edited manuscript does not violate ethical standards
  • Verifying that all edits preserve the scientific integrity of the work

JUCMD does not endorse any specific commercial language editing service and receives no financial benefit from such services.
